“Love immeasurable, love divine,
Love unlocked this prison mine.
Love, who paid for all my crime,
Wrap my heart in Thine.”
These words have arrested my heart recently, from “Love Immeasurable” by Ryan Long. Four lines capture so beautifully what Christ did for me. He set me free; He paid my bail. I’m so, so dirty. My very condition is against everything He is. I’m filthy, covered in a sinful nature, but He chose to die for me. Romans 5 says that rarely would someone die for a good or righteous person. I’m not either one of them. Christ died for me, a sinner. And I love that he calls Him love. God is love…. It’s not something He does; it’s what He is. He IS love.
Wrap my heart in Thine.
